It was a wonderful time as a group to be together, to relax to worship and hear an awesome speaker. It was also a time to partake in the ancient rule of St. Benedict. Who can forget the bells at 6:20 am on Saturday morning or the wonderful chat with Fr. Placidus? The food was terriffic (home made pie!) and the rooms were clean and spacious. The highlight for me was the tour of the grounds and the chance to see the artwork. Three years to sew a tapestry? I was thoroughly challenged by both our speaker and the example of vocation the monks shared with us. Hope to see you on Sunday! Remember we have Patey Lunch!
thanks to susan for the picture!
Josh

Welcome to Cross-Road

Welcome!

We are a group of Young Adults who gather every week to eat, laugh and encounter Jesus together. We usually meet on Sunday Nights at 6 pm on Nelson street (Hobbit House). You are completely welcome and we'd love to meet you.

Josh

Retreat Info

We’re gearing up for our winter retreat at the Westminster Abbey in Mission. The dates are February 8th-10th. That’s less than a month away, folks! Here’s the deal, though. The place can only hold about fifty people, so we’re encouraging everyone to sign up ASAP. It’s first come, first serve. And here’s what we’re going to do to encourage everyone not to procrastinate. The first 30 people to sign up will get the subsidized price of $75 (that’s for lodging and food… pretty much all you’ll need for the weekend). But since that’s all that we can afford to subsidize, everyone else will have to pay the full price of $125. Sound good?
But keep in mind that you’re only officially signed up to go AFTER you pay the good Bill Patey your money. Please bring your money to lunch at Bill’s on January 27th. He will not be at church on the 20th. If you want to get it to him before then, or if you’re not going to be at the lunch, please call him (604-733-0337) to make alternate arrangements. We need to give the abbey an official number by February 2nd, so you MUST have your money to him before then.

Here’s the other thing we need to know. Do we have enough cars? I just found out that it’s pretty much impossible to take public transit out to Mission and be able to get back on Sunday. So we’re hoping we can arrange for enough people to drive. When you give your money to Bill, you’ll also tell him whether or not you have a car and how many people it’ll seat. We need this information ASAP so we can make alternate arrangements if we don’t have enough transportation. Don’t know how to get to Mission? No worries! Bill’s making us maps with three different routes to the place! This will obviously be a bit of an extra cost to everyone who is driving/hitching a ride. We’ll make sure the gas costs get divided evenly amongst everyone in your car.

Dinner on Friday night is provided at the Abbey, but only if you can be there by 6 pm. Obviously not everyone can make that. So the rest of us just need to try to make it by 8 pm (when they close their gates). We’ll be coordinating more of this as it gets closer and we know how many cars we have… etc.

Do you have more questions? Probably. So email me at ktfindlay@gmail.com or just leave a comment on this post and I’ll reply.
