Fall Retreat!

Hey all! Here is the information that you will need about our fall retreat. If this info doesn't address all the questions you may have, then please feel free to email me at info@crossroad-fbc.com for more specific details.

When:
  • October 3rd-5th
  • We'll be leaving Deep Cove on a 7:30 ferry. So please arrive at 7:00 PM. We'll be sending out more specific directions to those of you who are coming as the time gets closer.
  • We'll be returning on the ferry around noon on Sunday - back to Deep Cove.

    Where:
  • Camp Jubilee

    What to bring:
  • We are staying in cabins with bunk beds. We'll need to bring our own bedding and toiletries. Sleeping bags, pillows, blankets, towels, etc.
  • Food will be provided (including snacks). Camp Jubilee requests that we do not store any food in our cabins, as it will attract bugs and other critters. So please don't bring your own food - unless you have dietary restrictions, in which case you need to talk to me before Friday, Sept. 19th.

    How much:
  • The cost for us is $70 per person. This is an already subsidized cost. But if you need more assistance, please talk to me. Don't let the cost keep you from going. As always, we're willing to work with you on this. But keep in mind that $70 includes the ferry, food, and use of the space - everything you'll need for the weekend. It's a great deal.

    Signing up:
  • We need to know our numbers by Friday, Sept. 19th. I realize that doesn't give us a lot of time, which is why I need you guys to be on top of this. I will be taking verbal and email confirmations and you can drop your money off at the church office (whoever is working the desk can give it to Brad) Monday - Thursday, 9 AM - 4 PM. If you for some reason can't make it to the church during those hours this week, please still confirm with me that you are going and you can give your money to me on Sunday, Sept 21st.

  • Please know that your verbal or email confirmation to me means that you ARE coming and that you owe $70. In other words... no "maybes."

    Who can come:
  • Everybody! If you have friends who might be interested - PLEASE invite them! This retreat is a very free-time/hang-out time oriented retreat. We will have two devotionals by Brad, but other than that we are free to enjoy the scenery, enjoy each other, or perhaps enjoy that homework that we really need to get done for Monday. This will be a great time of encouraging and growing community in our group and we want to welcome new-comers into that as much as we can!

Also, please note that RSVPing to the Facebook group is NOT a confirmation that you'll be attending. The Facebook group was put up for informational purposes only and does not reflect the actual attendees.

I will be emailing updates to our email list. If you are not on that list and wish to receive updates about this retreat, please email me (info@crossroad-fbc.com). And let me know if you would like to be added to our email list for information on future Crossroad events. If you are more the phone-type than email, you can call me at 778-883-9432. But I much prefer confirmation and questions in a written form.

We're heading into our fall schedule (links are to the left) and we're excited to see everyone! If you're new and you want some information, please don't hesitate to leave a comment here or send me an email at info@crossroad-fbc.com.

On Sunday evenings we gather at the Hobbit House (right around the corner from First Baptist Church), share a meal together, worship and pray together. It's $2 for a delicious meal, but if you're a first timer it's on us!

Speaking of delicious meals... if you've been part of our group and like what we're doing and would like to participate in some way... there's always room for more cooks in the kitchen! Please contact me if that's something that you are interested in.

Okay, enough blogging! We'll see you on Sunday!

If you aren't on the email list and would like to be added, please email me at ktfindlay[at]gmail.com

    The Retreat

The CrossRoad Retreat was a success! It was a wonderful time as a group to be together, to relax to worship and hear an awesome speaker. It was also a time to partake in the ancient rule of St. Benedict. Who can forget the bells at 6:20 am on Saturday morning or the wonderful chat with Fr. Placidus? The food was terriffic (home made pie!) and the rooms were clean and spacious. The highlight for me was the tour of the grounds and the chance to see the artwork. Three years to sew a tapestry? I was thoroughly challenged by both our speaker and the example of vocation the monks shared with us. Hope to see you on Sunday! Remember we have Patey Lunch!
thanks to susan for the picture!
